DIVORCE COACHING

"I believe it is possible to significantly reduce the stress, financial hardship, and trauma of divorce by having the right support people on your team."

From beginning to...Your "New Beginning"

YOU HAVE CHOICES

Getting divorced is an overwhelming process wrought with intense emotions, financial uncertainties, and broken hopes and dreams.  What most people don't realize is there are many options available to accomplish your divorce and move forward to a place of peace, satisfaction and hopefulness again.  My goal is to guide and support you throughout the process so you not only have a successful divorce, but you walk away with A Life You Love.

I AM HERE TO HELP

As part of the coaching process, we will talk through your options and figure out what type of divorce process is right for you.  We will assess what resources you need, and connect you with my elite network of top in their field-attorneys, mediators, financial planners, forensic accountants, custody evaluators, etc...

I will help you create an equitable and effective co-parenting plan, where your children come first.  I will guide you in successfully navigating the legal arena and help you develop effective communication and negotiation skills.

ACHIEVE THE BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOME

Once you have a divorce plan you are proud of we can begin to create your post-divorce plan.  Life after divorce can feel intimidating and uncertain.  I will support you as you set new goals, engage in new relationships, explore new career options, and truly maximize this new and exciting chapter of your life.  My #1 goal is for you to live A Life You Love!

A New You

Rediscovering You

Dating & Falling in Love

Dating & Falling in Love

After years in a relationship, raising children, self-sacrificing for the family, you may feel like you don't even know who you are any more.  I will help you rediscover your strengths, interests and passions.

Dating & Falling in Love

Dating & Falling in Love

Meeting someone new, navigating the dating scene, and putting yourself back "out there" can seem frightening and overwhelming.  I work with you to ensure you are emotionally ready to embark on this next chapter.  No one wants to repeat old habits or carry past hurts and resentments into a new relationship.

Creating New Connections

Dating & Falling in Love

One of the most challenging things about life after divorce is finding people to socialize with.  Often your friends are still married or have taken a side in your divorce, leaving you feeling alone and isolated.  I wil help you get out there, meet like-minded people and enjoy this new chapter of your life.

Navigate a New Partner

Navigate a New Partner

Eventually, one or both of you are likely going to meet someone.  Figuring out when and how to introduce your new partner to your children, your ex and your family can be very challenging.  I help you navigate these transitions in a mutually respectful fashion with your children's needs at the forefront.

Finances

Navigate a New Partner

Finances

Many people are terrified to get divorced because of the financial ramifications.  How do you live on your new budget and still be happy?  I work to assist you in developing a sound financial mindset that will transcend a sense of comfort and security to your children as well.  Finding a new place to call home; furnishing and decorating your new space; navigating holidays, birthdays, and gifts.  Where there is a will there is always a way.

Career

Navigate a New Partner

Finances

Many stay at home parents struggle with the prospect of returning to the workplace.  Do I still have marketable skills, is a common worry.  I help you assess your career interests and options, while further developing your skills.

Coaching V. Therapy

Divorce Coaching is NOT a Substitute for Mental Health Counseling

Although there may be some overlap in the benefits of working with a Divorce Coach and undergoing therapy, each of these professionals has a very distinct role and serves a unique purpose.   While working with a Divorce Coach may help you to deal with certain unresolved issues related to your divorce process, Divorce Coaches do not provide mental health therapy.  They do not treat mood disorders, anxiety disorders, addiction, or any other mental health condition. A Divorce Coach should NEVER be considered as a substitute for mental health counseling.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor I have the training and expertise to assess, diagnose and treat mental health issues, however, I do NOT do so in coaching sessions.  If we determine that mental health-related issues are contributing to your situation I will refer you to an appropriate mental health professional.  It is possible, in many circumstances, to work with both your mental health professional and your Divorce Coach, thereby continuing your coaching goals and process.  We would work collaboratively to ensure your ultimate mental health and wellness.

Preparing For Your Telehealth Coaching Session

Making the Most of Your Coaching Session

Meeting with me on the Zoom HIPPA compliant platform may feel uncomfortable at first. Keep these things in mind during your session:

  • Speak clearly so that I can understand what you are saying. Check-in periodically to make sure that what you are communicating is being understood and that you clearly understand what is being communicated to you.
  • Try to make “eye contact” with your camera so that the connection between us is stronger.
  • If you are self-conscious about your appearance or distracted by seeing yourself on your device’s screen, put a small piece of paper over your image on your screen.
  • Treat your telehealth session as if you are meeting with me in person. Avoid engaging in any tasks you wouldn’t do if you and I were meeting in the office, such as folding laundry, smoking/vaping, or cooking.  With the right steps and preparation, telehealth coaching sessions are enjoyable and productive.

Helpful Tips

  • Make sure you are in a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed or heard. This may be in a bedroom, home office, basement, a large closet, or even in your parked car.
  • If you live with others, ask that they don’t disturb you during your session time and that they refrain from using the Wi-Fi so that your connection is not slowed down.
  • Consider putting a white noise machine, small fan, or speaker with music playing outside of the door to the room you will be in so that  roommates or family members cannot overhear your conversation.
  • Make sure the device you are using (a computer, tablet, or smartphone)is fully charged and has a working camera and microphone.
  • Consider using headphones or earbuds plugged into your device to improve sound quality and maintain privacy.

*Make sure your children are NOT present or within hearing distance!
